This information has recently been updated, and is now available. 09/30/2022 07:12 PM EDT Office of the Spokesperson The following is attributable to Spokesperson Ned Price: Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken spoke today with Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr al-Busaidi to discuss the impending expiration of the UN-mediated truce in Yemen on October 2. The Secretary welcomed Oman's commitment to extending the truce and its efforts to help secure an expansion of the truce, which would bring further life-saving relief to millions of Yemenis. This additional relief would include paying teachers, nurses, and other civil servants who have not been paid in years, expanding flights from Sana'a, opening roads in Taiz and elsewhere, and ensuring the continued flow of fuel. The Secretary reiterated the shared concern about a return to war, which would only bring further destruction and suffering and again needlessly delay a peaceful future for Yemenis.
